Across the globe from geographic south to north;

At present survive incredible variety of life on Earth.

Similar to huge jigsaw puzzle of interlocking pieces;

Here exist millions of plants and animals of various species.

From landscapes to flora and fauna, broad spectrum it shows;

Biotic and abiotic components interconnected through energy flows.

Giving us shelter, food, clothes and medicine since ancient time;

Biodiversity: playing a major role, serves as our overall lifeline.

Originally, biodiversity on the planet was finely balanced;

And birds, trees, plants or animals faced no challenge.

Over-hunting, over-fishing, over-mining have led to loss in biodiversity;

Exploitation for economic gain or hunt for food causes species scarcity.

Even if a small portion of an ecosystem gets destroyed;

In the entire systems’ food chain, there are several voids.

Biodiversity has been declining since industrial revolution;

So, follow environmental laws and reduce level of pollution.

 

Support projects to save the threatened or endangered species;

Develop protected areas to preserve diversity, prevent deficiencies.

Use of technology can help us to grow more food on less land;

Hunting animals, clearing forests for selfish needs should be banned.

Instead of only thinking about its depletion and feeling sorrow;

Conserve, uplift and manage biodiversity for a healthy tomorrow.

Increase public awareness regarding its importance, take a step ahead;

Because it’s immensely vital for life, let this message be globally spread.
