Shopping in a way resembles life's meaningful experience !
In search of better, you often leave the thing that is the best of it's kind available to you.
When you go for shopping, many times in order to find a particular product of better quality you proceed to few other shops in spite of finding the most appropriate material. You advance with a belief that you may get even better, hoping something new and exciting than what you already found earlier in a shop. Later on, you realize that the previous thing was really the best / the most suitable which meets your requirement. Nothing else can be a better available option. There is a similar concept with life too. Most of the times you tend to miss out the best people or the best opportunity in life hoping to find a better one in the future. Your natural inclination is always to look for something better.Confusing?
Let me elaborate:
Undoubtedly, it's good to aim high, look for a better future than present. However, you should "be aware of your present conditions, connections and achievements simultaneously". May be what you have achieved is inaccessible to many others even after tireless efforts !
So, find the things you truly love and focus all of your efforts towards them. Either "be contented with what you think to be suitable for you and you already possess" or "try hard and find something much better that you really want". Only then you will be satisfied. Being practical in life can be the most appropriate solution here.If it's about shopping, you can easily revisit that shop again where you found the best commodity and get that thing but it is not the case with life. You don't have a time machine to go backward to your past and relive those moments or grab those opportunities.
Life is one shot; no next time, no second chance.
You can spot similar behaviors in some other areas of life where concept of shopping fits. It's human tendency to accumulate, to add and to build upon. Being fascinated by the beautiful arrangement and display of variety of goods in the market, we often buy goods that we never require further. Moreover, when you get what you want, your desire immediately switches to the next thing you aim and you can’t actually be satisfied from what you just received. This desire for abundance is the cause of unhappiness.
Here's what you can do about all of this...
Deciding to restrain yourself from things you don’t need and just having enough is a correct choice in my opinion. There will always be a stage where you will have a want for more things. Therefore, fill your life with the optimum amount of things and enjoy the things you own. Excellent presence of mind helps in making right decisions.
Similar to the right shopping, good things in life take time and concentration. You need to think about what you truly want and then find the most appropriate object to meet your requirements. Shopping can be enjoyed only if you have a clear idea about the list of items that you would like to purchase and then give time to get exactly what you have decided. Likewise focused approach and action plan is required in life. Once you have identified your basic needs, dreams and aspirations and steadily started working upon them; you can never be misled by distracting things which come your way.
